Grants
ABOUT OUR GRANT PROGRAMS
AHI’s grant programs are intended to make a substantial difference in the lives of orphans by sponsoring special projects and programs in Eastern European orphanages that our board deems best benefits the quality of life for orphans. AHI awards grants to qualified non-profit orphanages in three counties: 1. Romania 2. Poland 3. Russia. It is our wish to offer various types of grants for orphanages in the future. Currently we offer one type of grant that we call our special opportunity grant.
SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY GRANTS
Special Opportunity Grants are awarded from AHI on an as needed basis or as opportunity for funding programs/projects arise. Grants support projects addressing needs and priorities in four main areas but we reserve the right to fund worthy programs outside these areas: Capital Improvement Projects Health Education (General and Religious) Human Services
ELIGIBILITY
AHI typically awards grants for one year to orphanages or programs that benefit the quality of life for orphans in Romania, Russian and Poland. In selected instances, AHI will accept requests for multi-year grants or even short term grants. An applicant seeking multi-year support must demonstrate that such support is essential to the success of the project/program.

MEASURING IMPACT/ACCOUNTABILITY
AHI considers reporting on grant performance and impact to be an important element of every grant. (We are very aware of the potential for unethical use of funding and we make every effort to ensure that our funding goes to benefit the quality of life for orphans.) Organizations receiving grants are required to submit an end-of-grant evaluation report and are also required to submit reports on a quarterly basis. AHI’s board will discuss the specific evaluation requirements with each organization prior to the submission of a proposal or the rewarding of a grant. Board members will also make arrangements for yearly site visits. We also reserve the right to conduct random compliance checks by impartial experts, to verify that grant funds are being used appropriately. We also reserve the right to remove funding or require repayment of dollars that were used inappropriately or outside the specification of the grant proposal.
